He has an extensive filmography dating back to 1993, also as a Producer and Screenplay writer for all of the projects he has directed, in conjunction with his film studies in both New York and Barcelona.
In 1996, at the age of 18, he directed his first feature-length film, Torrella, una vida pel cinema (1997), a biographical documentary on the life of Catalan writer Josep Torrella.
In 2000, Rubió began his studies at the Micro Obert film school in Barcelona. As his first-year final project, he completed what became his first critical success, his Short Mohamed (2001), which was selected to compete in various International Film Festivals, and which won him, along with other awards, a Scholarship to further his studies at the New York Film Academy.
In 2005, Rubió continued his film studies at ESCAC (Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalunya) while simultaneously directing his personal projects.
It was during his formative years at the ESCAC, specifically over the course of 2008, that brought about a new string of successes for Rubió. His Short Silenci (2007) won the 2008 Golden Coconut for Best Short Film, at the Miami Underground Film Festival. In August of that same year, the well-known Director Allison Anders, whom Rubió had simply maintained a friendly online correspondence with, selected another of his recent Shorts, Madison Class of '64 (2006), to be released at the Silent Movie Theater in Los Angeles, California, as part of the Don't Knock the Rock Film and Music Festival, which Anders herself presides. And also within that same year, and also for his Short Silenci (2007), he won the prize for the Best Short Film at the IV Inquiet Valencian Film Festival.
In 2009, Rubió began a phase in his professional career in which he worked two jobs to make ends meet. Both jobs remained well within the audiovisual sector, the first one as a teacher and the second as an on-set electrician; a job which would take him to more than a few different movie sets, always in the hope of getting paid on time. The job as a teacher was to be the source of his first real paycheck and continuous career choice he periodically returns to while nurturing his ultimate goals in the industry such as creating and participating in new projects as a Producer, a Screenwriter and as a Director; as evidenced by two projects in particular titled Both a friend and a reason to smile (2011) and Més enllà del riu (2012).
10 more years have passed of projects that he has managed to build, which are also 10 years of continuing to exhibit his work in festivals around the world, of which the award in Italy for the Best Documentary is worth highlighting, for Bigas Luna: The entomologist gaze (2008) in 2018, within the Sicily International Film Festival, held in Syracuse, on the island of Sicily.- Music Department

A Catalan writer and filmmaker, who dedicated his life to writing books, novels, plays, scripts for documentaries, and essays, and who with a life of love and passion as a cinema-enthusiast worked as a critic, journalist, writer and investigator not only of Spanish Cinema after the Civil Spanish War(with his book "Rodatges de postguerra a Barcelona", 1991), but also of Amateur Spanish Cinema throughout the 20th Century, including young and old filmmakers, in his book "Crónica y análisis del cine amateur español", 1965, for instance. Furthermore Torrella dedicated the magazine "Otro cine" exclusively to Amateur Spanish Cinema, and the publication was awarded with the Premi Sant Jordi de la crítica cinematogràfica catalana in 1961. In 2001, he was recognized with the Medalla d'Honor de la UNICA (Union Internationalle du Cinema non Profesionel) on 2001, in his role of Screenwriter for the Amateur film Sabadell, emporio de la industria textil de España (1944).
But in the 1940s, before being the director and writer of this successful magazine, Mr. Torrella was the journalist from Barcelona of the most prestigious Film Magazine in Spain: "Primer Plano", where he interviewed many Catalan and Spanish actors and filmmakers, like Sara Montiel or Catalan filmmaker Ignacio F. Iquino (considered the Spanish Roger Corman and the "godfather" of a new generation of filmmakers from 1950s, like José Antonio de la Loma or Juan Bosch)
According to friends, family, and other authors (also friends of his) Torrella was considered "Tot un gentleman de la Manchester Catalana" (in English, "A real gentleman from Cataluña's Manchester"), in the words of another Catalan writer from Sabadell, Joan Cuscó i Aymamí.
After his death, Torrella was considered an icon in the culture of the city where he was born and lived: Sabadell.- Actor

- Joan Armengol collaborated intensively in the evolution of contemporary Catalan circus and was a decisive figure in all the areas in which he worked. Convinced that "the circus is the great metaphor of life", he practiced the motto "Of life, the theatre; and of the theatre, comedy".
His students remember his generosity, enthusiasm and the combination of technical rigor and personal respect with which he transmitted knowledge. They also remember the "clown's one, two, three" rule (the clown must work in three steps: 1. Receive. 2. Feel. 3. Explain).
After his death, the celebration of the Joan Armengol i Moliner Circus Days (October 22-24, 2004) definitively promoted the creation of the Association of Circus Professionals of Catalonia (APCC). His artistic legacy has also been reflected in the eight editions (2005-2012) of the festival "L'1, 2, 3 of clown", organized in Tiana by Can Boter and De Mortimers. In line with Joan Armengol's eclecticism, music, theatre, poetry, circus, dance, audiovisuals, plastic arts, parades and workshops in various specialties have been programmed. In 2012, the festival received the Sebastià Gasch FAD Applause for Emerging Creation for "its multifaceted will".
In July 2019, Tiana inaugurated a monument to Joan Armengol in the park that bears his name. Designed by Mario Tarragó, it consists of nine folding scissor chairs, placed vertically in threes and facing the sky.
